On Jan. 26, The CW will unveil its latest comic book adaptation with Riverdale, a darker, grittier take on the classic Archie Comic characters. The series is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti, who also oversees the network’s Arrowverse lineup: Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. The modern retelling revolves around the murder of Jason Blossom and the aftermath that trails it. Newcomer K.J. Apa stars as Archie, while Cole Sprouse tackles his best friend, Jughead Jones....

Last year, Apple was hit with dozens of lawsuits over its performance management features in iOS. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Committee last week, Apple said that it is setting aside the money necessary to resolve these cases. In December of 2017 and January of 2018, Apple faced dozens of lawsuits after it confirmed that it throttled older iPhones suffering from battery wear. In general, the lawsuits made allegations of planned obsolescence and said Apple should have given users the option to choose between performance and potential reliability issues – which it eventually did....

Apple has issued a statement advising that it has completely sold out of the Jet Black iPhone 7 and all versions of the iPhone 7 Plus, thanks to pre-orders. It adds that ‘limited quantities’ of other finishes of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will be available to walk-in customers tomorrow. In Australia, staff have been breaking the news to those waiting in line at Apple Stores, informing them that not even those at the head of the line would be able to buy a 7 Plus....

A week following the previous beta, Apple has seeded a new version of OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 to developers. The update is available via Software Update in the Mac App Store and Apple’s online developer portal. It is labeled as build 13C44, and that’s a small increase over last week’s 13C39 build. Last week’s build brought blocking for iMessage and FaceTime, while the original 10.9.2 beta introduced FaceTime Audio in the Mac’s FaceTime and Messages apps....

Alongside the launch of the Mac Studio and Studio Display, Apple is now selling a pro-branded Thunderbolt 4 cable. The Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable retails for $129.00 and is nearly six feet long to help accommodate the placement of your Studio Display and Mac Studio. The Mac Studio doesn’t ship with a Thunderbolt cable in the box, but the Studio Display does. Apple includes a 1-meter cable with its new $1599 5K display, which is significantly shorter than the sold-separately cable option....

Apple started a countdown to its 25 billionth app download on the App Store. A promotional page at the company’s website reads: A special section on the App Store, and the official rules, state that a person lucky enough to download the 25 billionth app will take home a $10,000 App Store Gift Card. Apple has reportedly abandoned plans to open an Apple Store in Israel after no mall owner in the country was willing to agree to the company’s terms. The proposed location was in the Azrieli Sarona Tower, a 61-storey skyscraper in Tel Aviv. Apple is known to make significant demands when it comes to opening new retail stores … The company knows that the presence of an Apple Store in a mall or other location will attract lots of customers....

Update: Apple has issued a statement to BuzzFeed News regarding this incident: The manager of an Apple Store in Australia has apologised after six teenagers aged 15 and 16 were asked to leave the store when a member of staff expressed concerns than they might steal something. The youths allege that their ejection from the store in Melbourne’s Highpoint Shopping Centre (pictured above at its grand opening) was due to the color of their skin....

Last week Nike unveiled its latest collaboration with Apple: Apple Watch NikeLab. Now the limited edition Apple Watch Series 2 has been featured in a Highsnobiety hands-on shoot ahead of its upcoming release. Just like Apple Watch Nike+, Apple Watch NikeLab is a co-branded Apple Watch Series 2 that includes the perforated Nike Sport band, special Nike watch faces, and has the Nike+ Run Club app pre-installed. Apple Watch NikeLab stands out from the Apple Watch Nike+ collection because of its neutral-tone colored Nike Sport band paired with the space gray Apple Watch hardware....

Apple has previewed watchOS 7 ahead of its release later this year, but two Apple Watch models running watchOS 6 won’t receive the software update. Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 will stop receiving major software updates with watchOS 6. Before watchOS 7, Apple only dropped software support for the original Apple Watch. Apple Watch Series 1 replaced it in the lineup with a faster chip alongside Apple Watch Series 2....

Watch faces You can’t have a new watchOS version without watch face updates, and watchOS 7 has at least three changes in that department. Share your face Apple is developing a new feature for sharing watch faces between users — a feature that has long been on my wish list — and each watch face is treated like a unique file. Based on an early version of iOS 14 code, users will be able to share specific watch face configurations with others using the share sheet from the Watch app on iOS....

Green aluminum models are paired with the new clover sport band, blue aluminum models are paired with the new abyss blue sport band, while the red aluminum models are paired with the refreshed red sport band. Starlight and midnight aluminum models both come with their corresponding sport bands. All five aluminum configurations are available in 41mm and 45mm sizes and with both GPS and LTE. The stainless steel configurations that Apple is planning to offer include gold stainless steel with the new dark cherry sport band or the gold Milanese loop, the silver stainless steel with starlight sport band or the silver Milanese loop, and the graphite stainless steel with either the abyss blue sport band or graphite Milanese loop....

In a press release this morning, Apple revealed fresh images and details about their brand new retail location on Vienna’s Kärntner Straße. We previously reported that the store is set to open this coming Saturday, February 24th. Apple Kärntner Straße marks the company’s first official presence in Austria. The completion of the historic store was announced just a few short weeks ago, when temporary scaffolding went down and culturally rich banners went up on the facade’s windows to herald the store’s arrival....

Apple today shared an updated aerial shot of its under construction Campus 2 project since last checking in earlier this month. As always, the company posted the image above to the City of Cupertino’s webpage tracking updates on the project.
