Apple published a new support page about how exposure to vibrations, like those generated by high-powered motorcycle engines, might impact iPhone cameras. Apple explains that some features like optical image stabilization (OIS) and closed-loop autofocus can be affected for “long-term direct exposure to high-amplitude vibration within certain frequency ranges.” As spotted by MacRumors, the support page says that “exposing your iPhone to high amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges, specifically, those generated by high-power motorcycle engines can degrade the performance of the camera system....

We today saw a not-unexpected sign that we’re getting closer to some new Apple Watch models: new model numbers have been registered in a Eurasian database. In all likelihood, the new Watches will be announced in September, alongside this year’s iPhones. Although I went from being a smart watch skeptic to not wanting to be without my Apple Watch, I would still say it’s not a product I get excited about....

According to the Associated Press, Apple’s request to suspend Judge Cote’s decision regarding the e-books antitrust case has been denied. The future doesn’t look so bright for the iBookstores’ agency model, as it looks like the agreements with publishers will be ending very soon if things don’t turn around for Apple. A judge on Friday refused a request by Apple to temporarily suspend her ruling that it violated antitrust laws by conspiring with publishers to raise electronic book prices in 2010....

Apple’s zero net emissions goal for its supply chain is now looking unlikely to be met, as A-series and M-series chipmaker TSMC has set a much less ambitious target for itself. Apple achieved net zero emissions for its own operations back in 2018, and has promised to do the same for its entire supply chain by 2030. However, TSMC doesn’t appear to be on board for this … The Guardian notes that TSMC recently set its own goal of 2050, not 2030....

Apple today has officially scheduled its fiscal Q2 2020 earnings call for Thursday, April 30. This will be an incredibly important earnings release for the company as it comes amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. Apple announced in February that it would not hit its Q2 earnings range due to coronavirus and the associated supply constraints and economic uncertainty. Apple had forecast a wider-than-usual range revenue range for Q2, predicting revenue between $63 billion and $67 billion....

According to sources with knowledge of the product, the fourth-generation Apple TV will actively compete for TV gamers with updated hardware, software, and peripherals that will debut at Apple’s September 9 event in San Francisco....

Apple and Facebook have a long-running public feud, based primarily on the latter’s collection and use of personal information. A new report from The Wall Street Journal today goes in-depth on this battle, with the interesting tidbit that Apple once proposed a deal with Facebook to get a cut of its revenue. The feud between Apple and Facebook gained momentum last year when Apple rolled out its new App Tracking Transparency feature as part of iOS 14....

The Apple Watch is again being credited with saving a user’s life. As reported by News Corp Australia, Kate Donald suffers from epilepsy, and her Apple Watch alerted family members when she suffered a seizure while home alone, triggering fall detection. The report explains that Kate’s seizures can be triggered by a lack of sleep. When her husband noticed she wasn’t feeling right, he arranged to have her three kids out of the house so she could catch up on sleep....

Apple’s design chief Jony Ive told the Telegraph that while his own team has worked using paper sketchbooks for more than 20 years, they are for the first time starting to use the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil instead. He said that while he’d started off demonstrating it, he’d then found himself using it for his work … Many of us in the design team have worked together for 20 plus years....

Apple is proud of its environmental credentials, and publishes an annual Environmental Responsibility Report to describe its goals and the actions taken to achieve them. But the company has now gone further, and published a specific environmental report on the upcoming iPhone X. Apple’s hooking up music creators on iOS with lots of new software updates and features today. In addition to releasing a new Music Memos app and enhancing GarageBand for iPad Pro and iPhone 6s, Apple’s Logic Remote app which works with both GarageBand, Logic Pro X, and MainStage on the Mac has been updated with full iPad Pro support and an iPhone version for the first time. Logic Remote is a companion app for Apple’s audio programs on OS X that lets you use multi-touch on the iPad and now the iPhone to control the desktop apps....

As September is closing in, new reveals about the 2018 iPhones are raising the hype bar even more. According to the latest news from notorious Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, 2018 iPhones will come in brand new color variants. This fall Apple will introduce the upcoming iPhones in blue and Orange color avatars. Exciting isn’t it..? In 2016, Apple was ordered to pay 13 billion euros to Ireland as repayment for back taxes at a rate that the EU deemed was illegal. Both Apple and Ireland appealed the judgment. Four years on, the first round of legal battles have come to a conclusion today: the EU court rejected the ruling which essentially means Ireland and Apple won. However, the EU commission will almost certainly appeal. A final decision on a corporate judgment of this scale will take many, many, years to resolve....
