Though 2013’s Man of Steel is the first entry into the DCEU, it wasn’t until last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice that DC and Warner Bros.’s shared universe got going in earnest. That was quickly followed by Suicide Squad, and later this year Wonder Woman and Justice League will continue to flesh out DC’s cinematic world. From there, the only film that seems to be holding to its release date is 2018’s Aquaman....
In addition to the new features detailed earlier today, iOS 14.4 also brings a trio of notable security improvements. In a new Support document published this afternoon, Apple said that iOS 14.4 fixes a kernel vulnerability and two WebKit vulnerabilities, all three of which “may have been actively exploited.” First, Apple says that iOS 14.4 patches a security vulnerability in the kernel affecting iPhone 6s and later, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation)....
Update: Public beta testers may not see the update currently as it appears to have been pulled for now. Apple has pushed out the fifth public beta version of OS X 10.11 “El Capitan.” The update brings bug fixes and tweaks the pre-release operating system in preparation for its launch later this year. The new beta comes with a build number of 15A262c, putting it ahead of the current developer build 15A244d....
This evening Apple shared a new ad that’s part of the Behind the Mac campaign, aimed at newly admitted college students. Like Apple’s previous Behind the Mac ads, this one features black and white clips of people interacting with their Macs. In this new ad you can see a series of college students reacting to acceptance letters on their Macs. Cheerful students and excited families explode with joy as they read letters on MacBooks....
Ahead of its major media event next week, Apple has issued a significant update to its Apple Store shopping iOS app. The first addition is a complete redesign for the iPhone and iPod touch application’s interface. The new design is more in-line with the recently released iPad variant. Speaking of the iPad version, the tablet-optimized layout is now a universal bundle (single download) with the iPhone/iPod touch version, and it has also gained support for making Apple Store One to One reservations....
Apple TV+ launched in 2019 with exclusive shows and movies – and although most of them come from the US and Canada, there are already some productions from other places and in languages other than English. Apple is temporarily closing many of its 20 retail stores in France as the country prepares to re-enter a national lockdown. Temporary closures will take effect starting October 30. On Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced new lockdown measures set to begin on Friday and last through December 1. Nonessential businesses, restaurants, and cafes will be closed in an effort to slow a recent uptick in COVID-19 infections. The restrictions also impact Apple Stores....
Business Insider reports that the FBI served search warrants ordering Google to hand over emails belonging to suspects in a criminal investigation. The emails in question were stored on a server stored outside the USA, and Google refused, arguing that a domestic search warrant could not apply to data stored in a foreign country … The filing does not suggest that the government is necessarily wrong to seek to extend the law to data stored overseas, but rather argues that the current law does not permit this, and it is for Congress – and not the courts – to make this call....

Apple has announced that it will be using carbon-free aluminum in future products, with the latest iPhone SE in line to take advantage of the new environmentally friendly manufacturing process. But the company has been quietly using the ‘revolutionary advancement’ in aluminum production since 2019, in the 16-inch MacBook Pro … Apple said that it helped fund the development of the manufacturing technology through a joint investment. The Apple Watch Series 3 is really fast and when you pair that with LTE, and the Series 3 is by far the quickest and most reliable Apple Watch to date. Developer David Smith has been keeping track, by way of his Pedometer++ app, of Apple Watch Series 3 adoption since its debut last fall. Unsurprisingly, the device is doing really well. Harper Collins has announced a prequel novel to the Warner Bros. movie Aquaman, exploring Arthur’s teenage years. We’ve been watching as banners go up at Moscone West in preparation of Apple’s WWDC developer conference on Monday, and now the company appears to have revealed “Yosemite” as the name for its next OS X release. The image, however, appears to be of El Capitan, a rock formation in Yosemite and another name Apple has reportedly trademarked as “El Cap”. For that reason, there’s a possibility Apple could go with either the El Cap or Yosemite name for 10....
