Update: Apple has now released iOS 11.1.1. If you were affected by the symbols autocorrect glitch when typing the letter A, update to iOS 11.1.1 and your problem will be resolved. Some iPhone and iPad users are facing a weird bug after updating to iOS 11.1. When trying to type the lowercase letter ‘i’, autocorrect replaces the word with the letter ‘A’ and a question mark symbol. Apple has officially announced its March event. Along with sharing the date, the company has continued its tradition of hiding a fun easter egg for iPhone and iPad users on the invite. This AR easter egg thing started a couple of years ago. First, with the Apple Watch Series 6 and iPad event, then iPhone 12 launch, the M1 Mac event, the 2021 Spring Loaded, September’s iPhone 13 event, and finally the Unleashed event for the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro....

When Apple TV+ debuted back in November 2019, it was basing its launch on the support of its flagship show, The Morning Show. Billed as an inside look at a fictional morning talk show, The Morning Show has essentially carried the success of Apple’s streaming service through its initial months. Quickly, however, it was compared to media that was similar to it, like Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. But one fun comparison comes between The Morning Show and the 2004 comedy, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy....

Apple this week released iOS 15.6.1 and macOS Monterey 12.5.1, both with security enhancements. And to bring these security enhancements to even more users, the company today released Safari 15.6.1 for Macs running macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina. The update doesn’t come with any new features or major changes. Instead, it fixes an exploit in WebKit (Safari’s web engine) that could lead to arbitrary code execution. This fix was already available for users who updated their Macs to macOS Monterey 12....

Apple has quietly refreshed its Apple Watch microsite with a few changes including more details about the upcoming wearable and newly added interactive images of the device. Previously Apple had a single ‘Features’ page for describing the functionality of the Apple Watch, but has replaced that page with expanded descriptions of the watch’s functions across the separate pages labeled “Timekeeping,” “New Ways to Connect,” and “Health & Fitness.” Each page goes a bit more in-depth into each category with additional details and interactive images....

The Apple Store app on iOS has today received a major update, bringing it to version 5.0. The update includes a new Sessions screen for finding Apple Store, improvements to the in-store experience, and more… Apple touts that this update makes for a “more personal and relevant” in-store experience for shoppers. The Apple Store app now offers product and session recommendations, while it also clearly shows customers which of their “Favorite” products are in stock....

Apple Store staff working in a newly designed store in a London shopping mall have unionized. They say they are seeking a pay raise, pay transparency, improvements to shift work, and less focus on metrics when assessing their work. A brand new image of Aquaman’s sea dragon emerges online. Directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa as the titular hero, the forthcoming flick ends Warner Bros’ superhero movie hiatus after last November’s Justice League. Set after the events of Steppenwolf’s failed attempt at taking over Earth, Arthur Curry returns home and begins his journey to claim his place as the rightful king of Atlantis. Apple has just seeded a new build (13D55) of OS X Mavericks to developers. The update is currently showing for users on the beta from the Dev Center and doesn’t seem to be showing up yet for members of the recently-reopened AppleSeed program. This release is expected to include improved USB syncing in iTunes and enhanced support for 4k monitors on newer MacBook Pros. Typically Apple increases the frequency of beta builds as it gets closer to the public release of a piece of software....

Apple yesterday shared two new ‘Shot on iPhone’ TV advertisements and today it has followed them up with yet another pair of videos. While yesterday’s videos focused on animals, today’s videos break that trend. The first video, shot in Bregenz, Austria, shows a first person account of someone riding down what appears to be a zip line of sorts. As usual, Apple is sure to credit the original recorder of the video, with this one having been shot by Robert S....

Just after sharing our latest drone flyover video of Apple’s under construction “Campus 2” in Cupertino this weekend (this time in 4K), Apple today shared an updated aerial shot of the campus. The shot shows early progress being made on the structure of the main building and other buildings on the campus as well as earthwork and greenery on the surrounding property. The City of Cupertino’s website, which tracks construction and traffic updates related to the Campus 2 project for locals hasn’t changed the project schedule that still calls for building construction to wrap up by the end of 2016....

Apple held its annual shareholders meeting earlier today, which included votes on six different proposals, comments from Tim Cook, and a question and answer session. One of the proposals was specifically critical of Apple’s cooperation with requests from the Chinese government to remove certain apps from the App Store. Reuters reports this evening, however, that even though that proposal was voted down at today’s meeting, the pressure is mounting against Apple....

On top of our running list of apps being updated for iOS 7 today, Apple too is preparing for the release of iOS 7 later today with updates to its own apps. The latest to get support for iOS 7 is Apple’s AirPort Utility app, which allows users to manage their Wi-Fi networks and AirPort Base stations such as AirPort Express and AirPort Time Capsule. Apple has also updated its Apple Store app today with optimizations for iOS 7 and “a refined user interface....

For the month of June, Apple is giving a small boost to its trade-in price values for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5S, according to Apple Store sources. Using the Reuse and Recycle program, a customer can bring in an older iPhone model and receive gift card credit toward the purchase of a newer iPhone. According to a 139-page 10K form filed today, Apple is acquiring a 230-employee mobile security company called “AuthenTec” for $356 million. Apple’s $8 per-share offer is at a premium of 58 percent over AuthenTec’s Thursday close of $5.07. The company owns 200 patents covering fingerprint sensors and sensor packaging, software, and end use. AuthenTec makes a variety of security tools, including a number of fingerprint scanners like the ones on the Motorola Atrix phone sold by AT&T, and it is responsible for the security behind the HBO Go app....

Apple on Monday confirmed that it will soon open a new retail store in the huge American Dream shopping mall and entertainment complex in New Jersey. The store is expected to have the same design as the latest Apple Retail Stores and will open to the public later this week, starting December 3. Apple is offering a $50 credit to iPhone customers who paid for an out-of-warranty battery replacement in 2017, who would be affected by the battery performance throttling saga but had already had their battery replaced before #batterygate happened at the end of the year. Before the saga happened, Apple battery replacements cost $79, so a $50 credit matches the currently discounted $29 price. This affects anyone who would be affected by performance throttling algorithms first introduced in iOS 10....
