Warner Bros. is reportedly planning to release the first trailer for the Aquaman movie at Wonder Con in March. The studio is in need of a PR boost after a rough couple of months, and the hope is that Aquaman will deliver. It is set to be the only DC live-action movie to hit theaters in 2018, and WB is waiting all the way until December to release it. Production came and went without any hiccups, giving everyone the sense that director James Wan has things under control.

Jason Momoa’s performance as Arthur Curry was one of the highlights for many in Justice League, so fans have understandably been waiting to see what his solo movie will entail. Wan has already shot down one trailer rumor, but a new rumor points to the studio using an upcoming convention to unveil the first Aquaman movie footage.

Revenge of the Fans reports word from their sources that the first trailer for Aquaman will be shown at Wonder Con 2018. The convention runs from March 23rd to March 25th, but when exactly WB is presenting is not yet confirmed. The report states the trailer will first be shown to those in attendance, but there’s no word on when it would be released to the public.

This report should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being as it is not confirmed, but it does make sense. WB has a history of liking the end of March to make big splashes with DC news. They did release Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25th after all. They also released the first official Justice League trailer on that same date last year. If they close out the convention, they could use that date once more and give Aquaman’s trailer the spotlight.

That track record is decent, but there’s also more reason to believe this report. WB used Wonder Con last year to debut new footage of Wonder Woman last year, as well as show the aforementioned Justice League trailer. There’s also the fact that Warner Bros.’ 2018 slate is really kicking into high gear next month. A release at Wonder Con would not allow for Aquaman’s trailer to be in front of fellow WB film Tomb Raider, but they could be saving it for the bigger movie at the end of the month: Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. That would then allow the trailer to play all through the summer on the big screen (or until the second one is released, anyway).
