Alongside releasing its new iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR, Apple has updated is AppleCare+ protection plan. For an additional cost, customers can now opt for lost and stolen coverage. Apple has also introduced monthly payment options for both the standard and new AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss plan.
The price of standard AppleCare+ for iPhone XS and XS Max that includes two-year coverage, including accidents is priced at the same $199 that we saw with the iPhone X last year. However, new this year is the option to get AppleCare+ for your iPhone with lost and stolen coverage.
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss comes in at $299 for the iPhone Xs and Xs Max and includes everything that the standard AppleCare+ plan for iPhone covers. Notably, the incident count between theft and loss and issues like a broken screen or other physical damage don’t appear to be separate.
The deductibles for an incidence of theft or loss range depending on your iPhone and go from $199 to $269 for the Xs models. Apple is also promoting new monthly payment options for both AppleCare+ and AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss.
Monthly pricing is available for a maximum of 24 months, and goes for $10 for the standard plan, and $15 to include theft and loss. Notably, customers are paying a $40-$60 premium to go the monthly route over paying up front.
Pricing hasn’t been shared yet for the new plan for iPhone XR. Apple is offering the new theft and loss plan with the iPhone 7 and 8, which starts at $199.
Another tidbit is that Apple will require users who have AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss to have Find My iPhone turned on.
