Following a brief appearance on its website over the weekend, Apple announced major updates to its iLife apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and Mac.
Eddy Cue took the stage today at debut new versions of iLife for iOS and OS X.
Along with new icons, Cue demoed iPhoto for iPad. Photo Books can now be composed directly from iPad, a feature previously limited to the Mac.
iMovie for iOS now includes “desktop class effects” like picture-in-picture. iMovie for OS X now includes a new design and support for editing speeds in 120 fps video like what can be shot on the iPhone 5s.
Garageband for iOS now supports 16 tracks on all devices (up to 32 tracks on 64-bit devices like the iPhone 5s; previously limited to 8 tracks). Garageband on the Mac features new starter content and in-app purchases featuring real artists performing instruments in a feature called Drummer (previously exclusive to Logic Pro X).
Price wise, the Mac updates are made free with the purchase of a new Mac and available today. (Full press release below)
