In an email to affiliate users today, Apple said that it will be increasing Apple Music commission rates to 100%, which is twice as much as before. In conjunction with that move, however, Apple is also decreasing iTunes Music affiliate rates.
Members in the program will earn a one-time bounty when users convert from a three-month trial to a full subscription, regardless of subscription type. Apple also states that commission for iTunes Music will drop from 7% to 2.5% worldwide and commission for movies, books, and TV will stay at 7%.
The full announcement can be found below.
As Apple Music continues to grow we are enhancing the affiliate program by increasing commissions for members of the base program. Beginning April 5th, 2018, we will increase payments to affiliates on Apple Music globally, paying twice as much as we do today. You will earn a one time 100% commission on the first month of a user’s subscription to Apple Music; this is twice the existing rate which pays 50%.
Affiliate partners earn a one-time affiliate bounty when referrals result in a conversion from the trial period to the first paid month for Apple Music (Student, Single, and Family Membership types are commissionable). This one-time bounty is credited once the user has converted from the 3-month trial period to the first paid month.
Also beginning in April, iTunes Music commissions will be reduced from 7% to 2.5% globally. The commission rate on movies, books, and TV will remain at the current 7% commission.
