In trademark Apple event ceremony, the Apple Store is down ahead of the new product announcements at the 10 AM PT presentation at Apple Park. The store will return when the event concludes with promo pages for all of the new products — it is not guaranteed that anything will be available to buy today.
We are expecting the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and the 6.1-inch iPhone ‘Xr’ to comprise most of the show, but we also expect a big segment for the fourth-generation Apple Watch.
Apple is juggling a lot of products at the moment. There are many candidates for refreshes and announcements but the rumor mill is still hazy on whether Apple will announce everything today or save products for another event in October.
The phones and watches are all but certain to be shown off in a few hours, everything else is up in the air. We could see the release date for the AirPower charging mat, alongside the new wireless charging case for AirPods.
There’s a chance that the slim bezel iPad Pros also make an appearance, we know they are launching sometime this fall in 11-inch and 12.9-inch models.
A bevy of Mac updates is also in the wings, including a new iMac refresh with upgraded performance and display, a new ‘pro-focused’ Mac mini, and a major new entrant into the portable line — some kind of 13-inch MacBook Air replacement featuring a high-resolution Retina display.
Outside of hardware, Apple will announce the release dates for iOS 12, watchOS 5, macOS Mojave, and tvOS 12. If Apple follows its typical release schedule, iOS 12 should be available to everyone next week on Tuesday or Wednesday. We also know there is a HomePod OS update in the works, potentially with some as-yet-unannounced new features.
